Why the heck would anybody buy a RED camera when they can buy this for a rumored price of around 24k!
You will need a few accesories though.

Honestly, if i had a choice between a 4k camera with a 2/3inch chip, and a 1080p camera with a full frame chip, id go with the later.

Good optics is way more important than resolution. the 'look of film' is way more about optics and contrast curve than crisp-grainfree images.

That little thing is neat, but i expect it to have pretty noisy images, with all those pixels crammed onto a little tiny chip. DOF is probably nearly infinite, with no possibility for selective focusing. No way you could do post adjustments like you can when you shoot RAW, etc.

also, upping gain doesn't increase dynamic range, the article is mistaken. uping gain, at best, 'steals' range from the shadows by moving the mid-point of the exposure into the shadows.

It does sound cool though, you could fit a bar of soap in a number of unlikely places for a camera.

On second thought, I think I'm gonna get that camera and make an HD originated feature inside a steamer trunk.
