Hey guys just a test in uploading the first of many to come of Canon lenses shot tests for upcoming comprehensive Canon lenses review.
Ciao
This shot has no corrections of any kind, and was shot with available light in my kitchen.

Nice and many thanks for sharing.
For stills full resolution would be great (if poss) to get a proper sense of the sharpness of the individual lenses.
A high-key and a low-key scene for each lenses would be great as well as a chart.
Are you going to test at all f-stops? are you planing on testing any zooms? Is this being this done with the dumb Birger?
Very Keen to hear your results.

Very nice.
And what does it mean?
You've got Birger?
Looking forward to compare with Leica Noctulux 50mm f1.0 one day (costs about Euro 4.800).

Just posted the first shot on my flickr account and mostly for testing purpose only at this time.
The above shot (also linked in full res.) was shot in very little available light to test image usability with this lens, the only thing added was a Circular Polarizer as to further reduce light, and also to give my preferred tone of colors, I almost never shoot with out one.
I don't intend to do a stop by stop shot, or zooms (as I usually don't use them) I just want to give people a prospective on some of this fantastic lenses.
But mainly I'll post a new thread with the entire list of Canon lenses, L and non L series, as to give choices to those that wish to spend as little as possible, but yet conpromizing just a little, (in some cases) in the image quality, when choosing non L glass.

Yes it is wide open, f/1.2, I always have a permanently mounted UV HAZE, filter on every lens (and so should everyone) plus a circular polarizer.

Ketch, nice shot, I like how focus falls off and how smooth it is.
When you take a picture for the test purposes, especially the wide angle ones, could you be so kind and include some high contrast element somewhere near the corner and make sure that it is in focus there.
For wide lenses and 4K material it is important to make sure that lens can take a lot of details all over the wide filled.
ASAP I get my Birger mount I will post 14mm L II (the new one) I am S/N 46

Thanks Andrew,
I will not be able to take any shots as I just sold the camera and now waiting to get the 1Ds III delivered, I could ask my friend to let me use the 5D I sold him, but I still will have to wait to shoot anything as I'm in the middle of pre-production.
I'm posting a Canon lens suggestion thread on "LENS TEST", but this is just a comprehensive and detailed info about my experience with each individual lens and their prices ETC.

Ketch- Thanks for sharing! Does the front of this lens extend past the front of the body? The other day, I called up a confused Canon sales rep, who then transferred me to a lens technician, who told me that NONE of the 50mm lenses extend past the front. Later, I went to National Camera Exchange only to find that both the 1.4 and 1.8 do, in fact, extend! Unfortunately, they didn't carry the 1.2L...
The extending on the 1.4 is not too bad, and I think you could probably mount the matte box up against the body, since the part that extends is much smaller in diameter. But then again, you have comments like these:
There are some deficiencies with some lenses that make them unusable. For example, the 50mm f/1.4 has 2 issues that make it unusable, the focus drifts and the barrel moves while focusing, causing the image to jump. The 35mm F/2 is supposed to be junk. If you want a 35mm or 50mm prime you will need to get the 'L'.
I would have preferred to start out with the 1.4 for budgetary reasons, but it looks like I'm going to have to wait to be able to afford the 1.2L

No Harmonica,
the EF 50mm f/1.2L those not extend, in fact it retracts ever little when focusing inwords, the one that extends when focusing is the all electronic EF 85mm f/1.2L II.
Please again be advised that I'm working as we post here a info thread about canon lenses on the LENS categorie.
