its possible.. there is lojack for laptop computers..
they have lojack type devices you can buy and basically have a website that you log onto and check where your stuff is in real time.

I'm pretty sure Lojack for laptops is software only:nerd:

Yeah, the lojack for laptops is similar to a bunch of other software only things that just "phone home" if your laptop is missing.
There doesn't appear to be a product that just uses a small GPS type chip that can be inserted inside a small electronics device to trace it.
