Okay, now that we have seen the battleship render in all it's glory. Lets talk cases. Any recommendations?

I've had good luck with Storm Cases (http://www.stormcase.com/). I particularly like their latch design. Some Pelican cases kill my fingers when trying to open/close them. Storm Cases are much faster/easier and secure enough for most cases.

And now... the lamest video in the history of the internet: A video comparing the latches on a Pelican case vs. a Storm case [clicky]. (http://homepage.mac.com/brookwillard/cases.mov) Please forgive me.

If you put it in a violin case and wear a pin stripe suit people won't mess with you.

I would absolutely love the idea of a few case options from RED.
Storm cases is my personal favorite as well, even though I have a all the other brands as well: Peli, watercase, Thermodyne, HPRC and skb.
If selling cases is out of reach, maybe RED could offer pre-cut foam for different cases, with room for all the acessories etc.
I'd just hate the idea of sending all my RED gear to a case supplier to get the foam cut.

What would be fun is custom RED inserts for certain sized Pelican cases (with a higher grade foam that doesn't disintegrate all over the camera); with a special R shaped cutout in the corner, encased in glass! (Not that I'd keep them both in the same place.)
Also, how the heck to you choose what Red-config to cut into the foam?! With battery and Basic Production package? With the cage? Lenses, and what size? (I assume RED comes with a sensor cover for when lenses are packed up.)

I love the Pelikans. The newer models aren´t that hard on fingers as the video showed. They´ve got a new mechanism which works fine for me. What I do not like is the foam inside the Pelikans. With use they tends to loss its shape. I use one for a fluid head and another for a Chroziel mattebox, FF and handgrips. Both interiors failed to preserve their shapes through the years. The ultraprimes interiors are fantastic, as well as the interior of the Moviecam camera which I believe are made from both soft and hard foam.
Thermodyne also offers this kind of foams.
A mixture between a Pelikan and those soft/hard foam interiors would be fantastic.

Maybe they could team up with a case supplier.
It's pretty easy to custom cut foam with a waterjet if you got the DXF files of the parts.....

EXACTLY what I was thinking
any chance Red could do some quality inserts for different size cases?
I hate pluck foam with a passion, and somehow with a camera like Red it
just doesn't seem right LOL.

That's that 8K camera I was talking about. The one I designed in my spare time.
