Hi all,

Not quite unboxing but the excitement was nearabouts the same level today when Stephen Webb of AE films brought round his RED today to our studios so we could start to play with the workflow and see if the camera's going to fit into the type of work we shoot.

I also managed to get it up on our steadicam... note for other Archer users - you're going to want to avoid shooting as I did with the battery and full baseplate on the top. Little bit too top-heavy for the Archer sled (had to attach a third battery underneath the post), although the arm was absolutely fine. I'm going to be investing in a steadicam > RED power cable as soon as I can find one.

First impressions of the camera: absolutely love it! We were thinking of going XDCAM 422 - but honestly, what would be the point?

Thanks Stephen for investing in the future (and RED for building it :)

Hey Phil,

See link to my Flickr photos in original post - there's lots of Steadicam action towards the end.

Cheers,

Ed

It was a really great day - got to fly the camera, and take a closer look at workflow. Oh yeah, and eat food (that someone else has paid for)!

Cheers Ed.

Nothings beats a burger so tall you need to G-clamp it down in order to feasibly take a bite... :)
