Has anyone from Red tried to take a Red One through a TSA luggage screening yet? I plan on traveling quite a bit with mine and I wouldn't want to check it.

Hopefully, LAX will be Red Savy by the time I travel with mine, but I would certainly like to hear any stories the Red team has the first time someone tries to carry one on.

RED One and a lens or two + batteries should fit in an airline legal carryon case with no problem. No doubt they'll make you power up the camera.

I'd seriously consider traveling with an International Carnet, where you sign your equipment into and out of each country with Customs. That way if the equipment is stolen or destroyed while you travel, you have a way to prove to the insurance company that you took it with you on the trip. It's not expensive. Plus you'll be able to bring your RED One back into the U.S. with no hassles - something I'm sure will be important to you!

I'm 2:45 from Burbank and 2:45 from San Jose, so I just look for the best fares. Some long-haul airlines only fly out of LAX or SFO though. By the way, TravelZoo is way cool for finding discounted fares...

Sure, whenever possible, but internationally and many places in US have extra stops from Burbank and I like to travel nonstop as much as possible not to mention the extra cash. Not a lot of direct flights from Burbank to London or Burbank to Hong Kong...

I have been asked to power up the camera enough times that I always keep a battery in the carry on bag.

I think it will go in my olf kata drop in bag for the Sony?
