Does the RED Brick battery have the same v-mount as the Sony battery does? Can I use my existing Sony batteries on the RED ONE camera?

Hi, All in One.
This forum has an excellent search feature. Not in any way to attack you or anything, but you will generally get a lot more in-dept answers by searching on a subject before starting a new thread.
Especially the V-Lock mount and battery systems has some excellent threads already :-)

To my knowledge, standard V-mount batteries will work. Wait for confirmation before calling that fact, but that's what I remember.

You're right Brook...V Mount will work fine. On the thread link below, Anders lists several V-mount batteries as options and Stuart posts afterwards without taking exception with that. I remember a few other posts when Stuart also verified that V Mount batteries will work on RED One.

Just a regular V Mount. We have a different power cord going to the body (not 4 pin XLR). You could use an adapter to take the V-mount to Anton Bauer (like a bunch of Sony people use already) just make sure you have around 140 watt hour batteries for enough run time. If not ours are reasonably priced. Also our charger can double as an AC power supply

I seem to remember hearing Matt say that the RED DRIVE mounting cradle has three different arrangements of mounting screws... for RED's battery mount, AB Gold mount and IDX.
I'd imagine that third parties will follow up [with RED's permission, of course] with their own battery mounts [to avoid using adapters]. Just rampant speculation.
Slightly OT, I was handling some AB Gold 100Wh batteries today. They were about 150% the physical volume and maybe 200% the mass of the RED battery. I think that the RED batteries are going to become quite popular... even among non-RED owners.

Briferg, can the charger supply power to the camera while charging a battery? Dual system. My Panasonic-charger can´t. Really annoying...

I second this request. It would be fantastic if this were possible. So I guess the questions would be:
1) Can the charger be used as an A/C adapter while charging one battery?
2) Can it charge 2 batteries at the same time and still provide A/C power to the camera?
If the answer to question #2 is "yes", then we're in heaven! :innocent:

Yeah, I agree this'd be great.

Is it fair to assume that the charger will accept 110-240 volts?

I don't know the specifics of the RED charger, but:
With most other Li-ion chargers in the same class the answer is No, No.
It's usually a choice of either 2x2A charge current or 4A amp PSU with a switch. Either an automatic switch (You need to remove the batteries) or manual.
And yes to Erik.
I'm still very interested in knowing if the charger is sequential or simultaneous. Can any Red insider tell?
And in case anyone missed it, here is the great retro design :-)

In another thread we found out that the charger (and most probably also the batteries) might be manufactured by Blueshape. Look at the resemblance of the charger design!
http://www.blueshape.net/img/news/CVTR2.gif
The Blueshape charger specs can be found here:
http://www.blueshape.net/pdf/Schede/CVTR2.pdf
Main features:
- Charges a 140Wh battery in just 210 minutes
- Charges SEQUENTIALLY
- Can be powered by 100-240 V AC
- There's an option to power it by DC (car battery)
- Output is 13.8V 60W (no information given if it can be used while charging)
Of course we don't know if the RED charger has the same specs but at least we have some indications here.

From the on-line ordering guide / price list -
RED CHARGER
Includes –
Dual sequential Battery Charger
Integrated 100W D.C power output.
Camera-Charger cable – 10ft
Q : Can it charge a battery at the same time as powering the camera - A : No, the camera takes precedence over charging the battery. But if the camera is powered down or the power input disconnected, the charger can sense that and re-commence charging the battery.
100V - 240V A/C mains voltage compatible.

Yes Laboprod all V mount battery mounted cameras could use it. The V mount comes standard on Sony etc. In fact your Anton Bauer batterys are also compatable with V mount through an adapter sold by AB. There are a number of US and Overseas makers of similiar batterys and chargers.
For example:

Looks to me like BigL found the right one. I believe that one is special order(in black) for them from a Chinese company. Great thing about this is that you will get a warranty from a reliable us company(RED Cine.) when buying these which you would otherwise have no warranty and no service center in the us.
