I've been a silent reader lately, joining other members here though. After this last Birger's post:

I'm wondering...
Why such announcement there:
http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?p=137239#post137239
"Or if one is going to be swapping mounts all of the time, he can use a Birger PL mount, which we will announce in a week or two."
(Erik Widding, birgerEngineer)
and no less important retraction now?
The first announcement had happened in the middle of January. One, two weeks later and nothing happened. Now, ten weeks later...
Wth does this mean?

This is what I've been wondering too...

The point is they figured out another way to do the birger mount so the alternate pl mount isn't necessary - it will be just as easy to go back to your RED pl mount as it would be to have a secondary pl mount to the intermediate stage of the Birger mount.

"Dear Mr. White,
I don't want to go into this on the public forum but from what I saw at the LA red test a while ago (changing the *old* PL mount for the *prototype* Birger mount), it isn't something you'd want to do that often. It seemed to be fiddly, take 20 minutes, and there is that whole Cooke /i lens data connection thing that gets in the way too.
Red have quite possibly fixed all this with the new PL mount.
But I think Birger for everything (PL, Canon and Nikon) will probably be best? Provided it is easy to set backfocus on the Birger mount...
Cheers"
For obvious reasons, I won't provide the name of the member who had the kindness to send me this private warning...

Since LART both the Birger mount and the RED PL mount were redesigned. I think this warning is outdated. Eric said that the Birger PL mount is no longer needed because of the redesign. News about collimation: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showpost.php?p=185542&postcount=2.
