Hi everyone,
I would like to organize a Party in Cannes for the RED Community during the Festival. It would be an opportunity for us to get to know each other!
I'm trying to find out how many of you would be interested in participating.
The participation fee will be somewhere around 100-150 Euros.
We have to reach at least a number of 30 for it to become feasible.
Please let me know and I will start to organize everything.:sorcerer:

Since I should have something ready to show at Cannes, this could be a great opportunity.

I'm very interested but not sure if the times will connect to your event, if they do I'll be there for sure.

Ciao

Every year i go to Cannes the most difficult thing for me is finding a place to stay that's not too far or too expensive (stayed at Grasse, Nice etc.).
Anyone wants to share an apartment rental or know something about places to stay?

May 2008.

The new RED revolution in Cannes after 40 years of waiting.

The old news:

http://www.festival-cannes.fr/assets/Image/General/thumbnails/image-9070.jpg

1968 Cannes Film Festival.

"On May 10th, 1968 the 21st Festival de Cannes opens its doors.
While France demonstrates and the universities close, students
invade the Festival from the 13th of May. Meetings are organized
against the decision by Malraux to expel Henri Langlois from his
position as Director of the Cinémathèque. On the 18th, just before
the screening of Peppermint Frappé by Carlos Saura, several
New Wave filmmakers, lead by François Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard,
hang from the cinema curtain in a show of solidarity
for the social movements across the country.
The Festival is brought to a halt.
The Jury, presided over by André Chamson, will never compose a winner’s list."

LINK>>> (http://www.festival-cannes.fr/index.php/en/article/55729)

The festival was canceled because of the unstable political climate in Paris.

The day they killed the fest: revolutionary '68 events triggered coup de cinema.

The 1968 Cannes Film Festival was disrupted when filmmakers joined students and workers
to protest against the Gaullist film establishment. It changed the event forever in that succeeding
festivals were expanded to avoid allegations of elitism and discrimination against certain filmmakers.

The LocaRed team from Paris is very likely to make it to Cannes this year as we're working on a stereoscopic Red project that should be partly shot during the festival, so keep us posted in that regards.
JrFilms, shoot me an email cause I might be able to help out with the 4k projector and maybe more...

My only problem (well, not the only one, but the biggest one for sure) is logistics as I'm trying to rap up final casting for the first movie and I absolutely want to travel with the "TWELVE" Female Co/Stars, besides two more Male Co/Stars, ho and my self!

But if everything goes well after NAB (and during) while in Vegas I should be able to rap things up, if so I'll be there for sure to promote the Film.

Ho, one more issue ... were are all of my girls going to stay???

Ciao

CiaoCiao KETCH!

No worries. I can help you if you'll need help. And my second half will allow me...

Now, seriously... I'm buying an old but pretty efficient (production) motorhome in Cuneo... 160kms far away from Cannes. And I will have to pick it up till April 30th...

Ciao Emanuel, e grazie per l'offerta.

At this time there is so much to do, but I hope to be able to partecipate to this event as well as obviously bring all the girls, while saving as much as possible w/o making the girls suffer.

I don't think anyone would want to make this pretty little Angels:innocent: (well some are no so little at over 6' Tall) Suffer, Right?

I know a 4 people flat (2 rooms, 1 convertible, 2 single or 1 double), it's really nice, really close to the Palais like 5 min. walk, behind the Carlton, I rented it like for the last 5 years but I'm invited this year so I pass on it... I can call to see if it's still available... It's 3000 euros for the whole festival and the owner is not all crazy about dates (like a couple of days before and after is cool too)...

Folks from abroad, keep in mind that anything outside of Cannes is a drag... Cabs are out of their minds as for tariffs, and it takes an hour to make a 100 yards, so forget cars too, buses and trains have schedules that are not Cannes Party friendly if you know what I mean...

I've been doing this fest for 18 years and I can totally confirm you'll regret it! Try and find IN Cannes... You'll thank me for it...

Oh, and get your badges quickly, there's only 2 days left...!

PS: I declare the official Red Users HQ for the festival is the Petit Majestic, behind the Grand'... (some will know what I'm talking about...)

PPS: The owner is a friend, I'll have him hand a sign or something... Can Red mail me a banner or huge logo?! Maybe some recup' from NAB? I'm sure my friend will hang it on his bar!!! ;)

I CAN'T WAIT!!!

The price for the Event is US$ 200.- but for early reservations (before 29th April) we have reduced the price to US$ 150.-

For all other questions please email me, I will try to help you.

The RED NIGHT in Cannes is approaching. Please, everybody who has not registered yet do it now. The supscription will be 200 US after tommorow. Last day for the 150 rate. The organisation is complex in Cannes. We appreciate if you don't wait to long to decide. We will loose a lot of money anyway but we have to be present. Who ever has an idea how to reach Soderbergh please tell us. Now that he is in Cannes we would enjoy to have him with us even if only for some minutes.

See you soon guys... Cannes is waiting

And you cannot even get a taxi at night if you dont wait in line for literally hours.

I´ve seen women walking 10 kilometers to their hotel in high heels at 3 a.m..

PS: This is the first year that I dont go for some time - so have a VERY GOOD RED Party!! It´s location is as best as it gets.

Thanks, Josch... a pitty you can't come. Cannes is amazingly crowed as you say... our location the best we could get, anyway we are living in the area and we know our little secret roads to come as near to the beach as necessary, we will not let the ladies walk 10 km in high heals. :)

And whenever you are in Cannes come to say hello, we would like to build connections to Germany.

Hi everybody...

LAST CHANCE... We are still missing some of you guys. YOU MUST REGISTER NOW, latest before Tuesday 13th - 18:00 pm GMT +1, if not we will not be able to grant you access to the beach restaurant. It is impossible to show up at the party just standing at the door. The places are counted for security reasons and we can't let nobody in, even for a million :) You need to be on the access list, as we do not control security ourselves. If you have lost your reservation code or need us to repost it mail us asap.

Hope to see you all soon....

Hi guys, thanks to Frederick and Richard for the wonderful event, great dinner and beautiful place! Also thanks to Locared, Arno, Raff and Daisy to have been kind enough to bring the camera down on the beach! Can't wait for next year as it has to be a tradition now! Great party! Merci!

So?

Did your beloved Soderbergh ever showed up?

Lewis-M Soucy
05-31-2008, 05:58 AM
nope... so didn't Luc Besson (I saw a badge in his name, there was a chance he might have come someone said, as he seemed interested in the whole Red thing...). But we had a great time! Again, thanks to LocaRed who were nice enough to bring their team AND camera to toy around... Just the LCD image was amazing, altough there was hardly ANY lights there... Sort of clubbish ambiance, red, blue, candles, etc... I did a lot of marketing to the Prez of ESRA film school who was there as I know him very much (he kicked me out of his school 18 years ago!)... He's considering maybe acquiring some Redz for the school... I sold him the idea it'd be a good marketing argument for his school and students to familiarize/form teks on Red... We're supposed to meet in June to discuss that... Fingers crossed... (comission, comission... )

No tips from Soderbergh this year gang:nerd: , but I had a amazing time! Mostly because of Frederick and Richard and Jasmin!!! When you guys are in Los angles I am your humble servant. LocaRed had the camera up and ready for everyone to see and play with! I can't wait to work on some projects with my new french and international red friends mainly because of this event so thanks for having me! - Jason Avalos
