Thanks Michael.. Great document for people.
Great diagram, Michael.
This has probably come up before, but what about the audio stream[s]? Are some of these outputs two channel only and others 4 channel, and some no audio?

Mike,
Couple of bits of info since your last diag update.
EVF output is 1280x720p
LCD output is 1024x600p
RAW data port is 10gigE Fibre
USB2 x 2 ports
Audio output is 2ch XLR
As always...many thanks,
Dave

Nice work, Michael!
Your diagram has saved me from posting about seven or eight dumb questions - worth its weight in gold!

Thanks, everyone, for the kudos. Glad the diagram is of use.
Thanks, David, for the extra info. Version 19 is now up. Just refresh your browser and scan my first post in the thread.

1270p is listed as s35mm, not s16mm. Upper-left quadrant of the chart, following the 10gigE output from the RED ONE.

what is the bottleneck or speed limitation of the SATA connection going out to the RED Flash? If you threw 20 large CF cards into a RAID configuration, could that connection handle 900MB/s, for example, to record high-fps 4K uncompressed to flash memory?
Jeff Kilgroe

SATA (presumably SATA II here) tops out at 300MB/s.

So is it unknown how we would record the uncompressed raw files?

They've said it's to be 10gig Ethernet fibre.
I'd presume as they're released the raw port price ($6,500) they'll give details of this interface at NAB.
Also expecting details of REDRAID sometime!
REDRAID is RED product that records uncompressed off Raw port.

What distance is allowed to have between Red-Drive or Red-Ram and Camera. Is there a maximum distance defined by the eSATA connection?
hi Michael,
thanks for the great diagram. i suppose that the imminent release of FCP6/FCS2 would imply some additions/changes to your diagram... specifically in the area of FCP6's ability to drop/work with REDCODE RAW files directly in the timeline -- which presumably (unless i have my information wrong) means that you can skip the initial REDCINE step?
thanks again for doing the work to put that diagram together.

One little question/fix: Shouldn't the USB port be a <----> arrow not just ---> to the computer? Can LUTs only be downloaded using the USB or can they uploaded through usb as well?

the diagram seems to imply 720p up to 120fps at up to 35mm frame size. I didn't think this was possible, and doesn't seem to be by looking at the Red Site.

I think this diagram needs to be slightly clearer in showing which lines pass through each other and which lines connect to each other.

The diagram is nice, but what would be really helpful is a diagram of what actually works NOW, not what the future will hold. It would be great to have that to show to editors and producers so that the real world workflows can be figured out best for the application of the system on-set tomorrow morning or next Monday. I've been searching the boards for rumors of a 16 gig CF card testing out as workable but to have a reference chart of present tested workflow and also more importantly, capacity at 4K,2K, &(Gpm) Gigs per minute on a CF, on an external firewire drive, etc.. with what is available at present would really be a great way to get all the production people involved on the same page. I have to search the boards now for several hours to find out what's the best way to solve the issues this week, and would sure be nice to have one of the moderators compile this info for quick digestion. How about a weekly updated sticky graph?

great diagram, thanks a lot for putting it all together! I might have missed something but I need to ask: due to speed constrains 4k could not be recorded on CF cards, right?

Great Diagram Thanks
A few questions..
Will both viewfinders output a signal at the same time?
How is audio handled…Acquired?
Thanks

Just announced yesterday. I guess due to lack of demand.

Well, that's news. (GAlexander, I sporadically keep up the diagram from what info I've gleaned from the site. Hence, my request for others to check its accuracy.)
So, RAW port removed from diagram.
Oh, and the EVF is grayed out as "future" since they aren't in full production yet. :-)

anyone else think that maybe it will be come kind of DAT?
these can be fairly cheap, throw a lot of data at them.... it s big pain as you would have to play it back but you wouldn't need massive raid arrays.

Unfortunately it has been stated pretty clearly that the 1080 4:4:4 over HD-SDI is not a future option.
My guess is that they'll give the dual HD-SDI's a go as a RAW data-port for less compressed media. But that's only my 2c

Bilba,
Dual link 1080p is in the original specs from some months ago. It is grayed out because it is currently not available and, per some correspondence, may be abandoned.

Hi Spike,
Yes, of course. Here's the link:

It should stay there for a long time. If I move it, I will also update the link to the original image at the top of this thread.
