Don't worry about easy set up - just drag the proxy to the timeline and let it autoconform.

For importing just import the entire reel folder. You 'll get an fcp error when it cannot recognise the .r3d. Ignore that, it will still have bought in all of the proxies OK.

Then do a find all on "_H" (or _M or whatever proxies you want to use). Stick the findings in a bin and away you go. Sure beats importing all your _h files individually!

It seems mainly CPU dependent but bandwidth plays a part. I can get _H OK with an esata external via express card to a 2.5ghx Mac Book Pro/2 gigg ram.

why dont you convert your proxies to ProRes with Compressor?its much better to work with.

When you do the conversion from r3d to QT through compressor, does it still allow for an online via redtrip or through crimson workflow? I'd like to edit in either prores or dv ntsc for an offline.

yes this is the workflow crimson allows you to do

Can you place the lowest quality proxies in a 2K sequence?
If yes, do you scale them to fit?
Or do you have to use the 2 k proxies?
