Is it a front thread mount on 18-50 T3 zoom? Which mm ø?

yes, 72mm.
the front element is moving in (18mm) and out (50mm).
there is no easy way to mount a matte-box

An ordinary mattebox would do fine. The lens only moves the optics in the barrel. You mount the mattebox pref. to the housing.. And the housing is static.

No problem here with my Arri MB-20II. Perfect fit with the 138 to 114 mm filter ring.

I apologize for any misleading info in my previous post.
What I meant was: there is no easy way to mount an ultra-light mattebox on the 72mm filter thread itself for reduced weight/ handheld. of course every standard mattebox for 19mm rods can be used with the 18-50mm.

you can use a clip on matte box just fine if you have a stepdown ring to 114.

Inner thread mount on the moving part or the lens is 72 mm. Outer housing diameter is 114 mm.
