We are having a hard time figuring out how to use the 1k (m) proxies (or any for that matter) to play on the FCP timeline and be viewed on our external LCD monitor. Picture is getting there only it doesn't play.
System is Blackmagic Decklink Pro PCI-X. Tiger. QT 7.4.5.
Did we just discover that the proxies cannot be played on a FCP timeline and be viewed on an external monitor yet?!

I've had mixed results with timeline playback of Proxies. We have a Decklink HD Extreme - it does everything else that the AJA cards do, so I don't see why it should make a big difference here.

This should be stickied by now...
Intel only, more cores and ram the better.
Tiger needs QT 7.3 (use Pacifist to roll back)
Leopard is OK with QT 7.4
Drag proxy and allow sequence to conform
Set RT to Dynamic, turn off high quality scrubbing, quality to low, frame rate to dynamic or full (system dependant).
Set BM card as you normally would (1080p for example).
I use BM - HDLink - 24' Dell. No problems.
Have Fun

Thanks. We got it working with Tiger and QT 7.4.5 . There seems to be a lot of editing going on around here with no external monitors. Just a feeling I get...

I'm on a 4 core Mac Pro 5gb ram and we have had success playing the 4k 2:1 M proxies in a redcode timeline in fcp6 using firewire out through a dvcam camera to sd monitor. the downconvert seems to take place in final cut. Any way its SD but realtime works well enough for offline.

No. There's just been a ton of discussion already about how to get this working on Konas and Decklinks. You just missed it :)
I have 2K proxies going out of my Kona, medium quality, full frame rate at 1080p res.

Ah well, I can't read every thread...I'd get nothing done!
If you see a good discussion on it post up a link here if you can.
I'm actually the smoke editor and have been more concerned with EDL's and DPX's. Animal girl who is the FCP editor may show herself if we're really quiet...
