I just received my camera and Ive never been able to work with red cine or red alert because i didn't have an intel mac. So I just got the latest mac book pro and I tried working with some r3d files and upon export red alert crashes right away and red cine freezes half way through the clip and now crashes upon boot. What am I doing wrong here?

Are your R3D files in 2:1 or 16:9 aspect ratio? The Quicktime component, and Red Alert! currently do not function with 16:9 material. Redcine is supposed to work with 16:9 although it can be very picky about the specific display hardware you have, probably more so than any other program I have run (and I've been programming and using computers since 1979).

I am actually using the footage that was sent to me by Silverado studios in their generous mail out. I am not sure how they shot the footage but I am assuming it is 2:1
Could the fact that I have quicktime 7.4.5 be the issue? I just received the computer today and dont have any previous versions.

Go to your volume/Library and trash the Redcine folder.
Now open Redcine and load some different R3D files from one of the other DVDs. Some of the Silverado files were corrupted.

Also use Redcine Reset by Anders Holk to open with (trashes prefernces on startup). Don't run other programs when rendering - especially QT. Mininmise the preview window when rendering and set to lowest res for quicker render speeds.
