In a VERY smart move - Cine-Tal acquires CineSpace from Rising Sun Research -

funny how important software is these days eh?

see below -

Cine-tal Systems to acquire cineSpace product line from Rising Sun Research *

Cine-tal has reached an agreement with Rising Sun Research (RSR) to wholly acquire its cineSpace color management technology and product line. Cine-tal will continue to develop and market cineSpaceas a standalone solution for color management in visual effects and DI. Cine-tal Systems and RSR will conduct a joint demonstration with cineSpace supporting display profiling and matching LUT generation using Cine-tal's eL1000 and Cinemage product lines.

cineSpace is the most widely used color management technology for film and television production. Itis employed by production and post production facilities worldwide to ensure that all of their displays match and conform to a specified output medium, such as a particular film stock or video
format. It ensures that the images artists see on their screens are identical to how they will look when projected in a movie theater or shown on television. Cine-tal Systems will integrate cineSpace software technology with its own display management software that has been in development for
several years.

The combined technology will allow users to ensure consistency of image quality when content workflow passes through several color space requirements and is viewed on different display systems.
The tools will assist customers with any variation in image display when content moves from one phase of production to another, from one facility to another or from one type of display technology
to another.

So what does this mean to you?

First and foremost, this represents a major investment in the future of cineSpace between two companies that have been working closely together for over a year, and this means great things for you, our clients. From features to bug-fixes, support and services, cineSpace is set to receive significant boosts on all fronts - and RSR will be closely involved every step of the way, as we work with Cine-tal to further develop these capabilities. We are currently targeting a July 1, 2008 date for the official transfer of our sales channels and primary development responsibilities to Cine-tal, a move that should be transparent and fairly seamless for most of our clients. RSR will remain very closely involved in sales, support and strategic direction of the product suite after this date, and we'll keep you posted about any updates as we move forward.

Both RSR and Cine-tal are absolutely committed to the cineSpace colour management technology and to providing great support to our clients. This collaboration means greater access to sales and support contacts in your local region, along with an expanded solution set that provides you with
even more options for your unique colour pipeline.

Further details will be provided over the coming weeks, but should you have any immediate questions or concerns about how this may affect you then please feel free to contact me, Jeremy Pollard
(jeremy.pollard@rsrhq.com), or stop by the RSR booth (#SL9522) at NAB2008 for a chat. And in the meantime, please continue to liaise with your normal contacts at RSR for all sales and support
inquiries.
