Hey guys -

I'm curious - I see the weight of the RED 1 is about 10 pounds. Now, shy of seeing a high-strength plastic case/cover/shell, which is a loosing long shot, I'm curious what the minimum required pieces are required to shoot and record an image with the RED? And what is its weight at that point?

Can a Red run off of a 12 volt power source being fed through a Steadicam sled?

Just curious.

How heavy is your lens?

Do you need rods for your configuration? Do you want them on an on-camera bridge plate or on your Steadicam?

Do you require handles of any kind?

Shooting to CF or drive?

Do you require a mattebox?

Yes, it can be powered from your sled assuming you have enough amperage and the right connector or gender bender.

I didn't actually weigh it but the lightest rig I have successfully shot with was:

RedOne camera body est 10 lbs
Zeiss 25mm SuperSpeed est 2 lbs
CF card est .01 lbs
Battery belt clip with RED LiOn battery on my person so I ain't counting that.
RED LCD & Cable est .6 lbs

Total estimated weight 12.61 lbs.

After a couple of minutes of shooting I added the top handle as I became concerned I might drop the camera. This added about one pound to the rig but it was well worth it as I gained much greater physical control and got better footage.
