From the first time I read what Scarlet really was and its price I wanted one... And that was like 10 minutes ago.

Ok, so now what? Reservations? I supose we'll have to wait for all Red One owners to order theirs... And we still have like 8-9 months till it's ready to ship. That's plenty of time to save money, but besides that I'd like to know if people at Red are thinking of a specific day to open reservations.

Jim? Anyone?

By the way Jim... What can I say?

Thanks... Thank you and all Red people very much.

Of course I know it'll change from this day to its release, but PLEASE, don't make it much more expensive! The price's just PERFECT.

There is no Scarlet! Just a mock-up at the moment that looks like a robot from Star Wars! Calm down. There have been people in this forum asking the same for months already and there are no answers yet! It will take a long time to figure out.

I think Jim posted long time ago that there will be no reservations for Scarlet

Ok, so then we will get delays on this one too. So basically it's the same thing as having reservations. Or they wont sell till they have enough... which is still the same thing as waiting for your order to have gone through if you could do that today.

They're going to sell a gazillion of these things if the $3000 price tag is correct (that's half the price of the Sony EX1!!!) - lens and lcd included too!

You're right. This is truly a revolution. Jim said it. Something that only comes around every 25 years... And even more.

What I can't understand is the general reaction to the cam. It seems that we've been dreaming of our perfect Scarlet for so long that we cannot realize noone's offering what Red offers. There's not a single cam in the world which can compete with the initial (and I said INITIAL) Scarlet specs below $17K (you know the cam I'm talking about) and people are starting dozens of threads like "It's great... but..." But what?? In a year you'll have the absolute revolution for professional broadcast and independent cinema for less than $3K! Red is going to sell 3K RAW with sound, lcd and CF recording for the price of a standard HDV cam and people are asking for Nikon mounts! They're even saying they'd pay more for that, which would completely ruin the "all people can buy it" spirit of this cam.

How many XL2 lenses have NEVER been detached?

Seeing how Red lenses perform, what nikon (canon, zeiss... whatever) lens is going to give an image that's really worth having a non-fixed lens?

Do you really want every 35mm lens you can possibly attach to the cam to act as a telephoto?

And to finish... Someone spoke about C-Mount lenses. Let me say I actually own a c-mount 1080p 2/3" cam and I spent months trying to find a good 16mm c-mount zoom for it. Now that I found it (Angenieux 12-120mm) I will never detach it from the cam, just because it gives me exactly what I need. The Scarlet is already offering that for less than any of us would ever imagine. Why more?

Well spoken! I've been doing a lot of experimenting with c-mount cameras using an elphel and I had the exact same experience with regards to the lens.

What Jim has promised us for $3k is simply stunning. Amazing. Revolutionary.

I feel sorry for anyone who can't see it. :bye2:
