With epic, your 17,500 you paid for your RED also goes toward your camera but you trade it in. its around 40thousand. The 18-85mm lens is AMAZING!!! So nice! New housing for the 300mm zoom. new 7inch lcd vs the old 5inch.

Was explained that there would be two tiers of RED products and thinking in the future...a prosumer tier and a professsional tier. It was mentioned that there would eventually be a different line of accessories for the professional version (it was also mentioned that professional-tier stuff would be machined, prosumer-tier accessories would be cast). Also mentioned was a "professional level LCD".

Yes, Color will read R3D natively! Will have a 'Red Room' before the primary in rooms where you can change the metadata.

Hi MrD
Don't want to be a party pooper here but i'd say three tiers of products.
Consumer, Prosumer, Professional, Scarlet, Red One and Epic.
The higher data rates for Epic will be the difference here and with every
rental company eventually marketing the cameras this way it sorta puts RED ONE in the middle.
The saving grace, a trade in plan, very clever, although I wonder if RED
and it's customers wouldn't be better off with some kind of leasing plan for original and now cash strapped RED ONE owners.( I know a few)
Many of these guys will have a hard time finding an xtra $20K+ cash up front for Epic
which is by any other name RED TWO IMHO.

And (I hope & think) we'll see RED THREE in a year, that's the name of the game untill we have 24bit 4:4: cams with a lossless codec you can edit on a laptop.
I saw the D21, and was impressed. Then came EPIC. This is only good.

Although I notice a few things originally promised in RED ONE are
now promised in RED TWO, sorry Epic.
Better luck this time Jim.
