Pre Red One Release I thought your tent was cool and different for sure.
Loved the entire experience back then.

But now that RED has multiple items and products released and its working.
I felt, expected, hoped and at this point wish.

RED had more of an open floor style display.
Waiting in the line although not long still sucks.
Not having freedom to move around a bit can bug.
To many people bumping into each other just an uncomfortable feeling.
I had multiple friends who were split up, and would not go in for the fact that its toooooooo crowded. Thats no fun.

Seems to me it would have been more inviting to allow people to move around more freely.
Without guards at the ropes in and out.

The cult feeling used to be cool.
I dont know if its cool anymore.

The Secret is out its working its here its real and its on.
Give us some space please.
Im tried of saying oops sorry, excuse me.

I would guess that Red knows this and I would also guess they will need to grow their booth next year.

I didn't go last year, but also felt it was a little too crowded. I also noticed that they were about the only camera company that didn't have anything to actually point the camera at to see how good the picture is. A little odd...everything around it was so dark, it only pointed to the wall of the booth where some light was coming in. Considering I'm spending all this money, I was hoping to get a really nice working, hands-on demo like Sony, JVC, Canon, Panny, etc. provided.

That all said, I loved the workflow session they had in the booth. They should record this and get it up on the IMMEDIATELY. All of the browsing I've done on this site, and I still learned more in that 20 minutes than ever before as to how best handle the files after shooting is done.

There should be plenty of room now that Apple & Avid aren't there.

Shit, with the way Jim & Co. are going, you'd figure they'd be eating into Sony's floorspace by now. Perhaps next year.

Your right. It is to small. . . TO HOLD ALL THE AWESOME!

Reminded me of a club...except no drinks and the chicks were cameras. It was crowded in there. But what do you expect. Red is the talk of NAB...I heard all kinds of stuff around the floor, good and bad. There's also a lot of ill informed people running around at NAB.

I will say this...I was shocked at how many companies had Red Ones in their booth! A lot of initial orders seemed to have come from other companies! That is great stuff for RED... It just seemed like every accessory maker, jib maker, etc. had a Red camera. By walking NAB, you can see Red has done some serious inroads for only having that camera out a year.

LOL!!! Last year it was an HVX200 in every booth...
Interesting what can happen in a year.
I guess it will be NAB 2010 when we see
a Scarlet or two or three in every booth.

I love the design of the booth, it has the attitude and the strength and the horsepower you'd expect from RED. However, now that the flood gates are open, I'd like to see the booth evolve. I'd suggest the following changes: Two screening rooms, each with a longer program. An open floor plan that allows free traffic flow in, out and through the booth. 42" plasma screens placed 8 feet high at the four corners, each one showing behind the scenes of real movies being shot with RED. Workflow. Workflow. Workflow. Downplay the testimonials from DP's, they're great, but focus on the workflow. I liked the screens above the queue for the screening room, but we need more and they need to catch people walking down the main aisle.
Exclusive Merch. We want swag and we'll pay for it. A souvenir Ticket to the NAB screening, T-Shirts, Lanyards, Pins, Caps, Dress shirts, Totes, Posters and Mugs. Put the store next to the queue between the two screening rooms so there's plenty of time to shop. Stills. Show people walking past the booth just what 4K looks like. Take the size graphic off the back page of the brochure, separate the frames, put in a still and hang them all together. Not everybody picks up a brochure and really looks at it. Now everybody will see it. Put the display cases at eye level, it's easier for more than three or four people to view and we should look up to see the product, not look down on it. Love the helicopter, add some more tools and rigs to the display areas. RED is about images, put some up ;)

We've exhibited at NAB in the past, and most likely will be back next year. I am sure everybody would want a bigger space, but the costs are insane. We were paying close to 42 dollars per square foot two years ago. (no idea what the cost is now.) And that doesn't include tons of additional costs like union fees for electrical hookup, network, carpets on the floor, you have to pay to have your gear shipped in and out, etc. etc. Everytime you turn around someone wants 500-1000 bucks for something. When you add up hotel, meals, flights etc. you really begin to wonder if it's worth the expense.

I would look at the big boys spaces and think, how can even they afford that? Even with deep pockets, I'm sure that every company that goes to NAB feels the pain.

No way. Next year the booth itself will be small scale. Deliberately. Big 4k screens outside and inside. Let the pictures do the talking kind of thing.
