I'm not sure if I've seen a topic about this, but where did you guys (RED team) come up with the name RED? Does it stand for something?

I think I recall Jim saying the "Red" was the color of passion.....
After 15 months of reading posts about Red, it's all a little fuzzy.

Yeah, it was something like that, although passion wasn't exactly the word I recall. Within that semantic domain anyway.

Well, maybe at some point Jim just bought the rights to the domain name www.red.com with the idea that it might be a cool name for a product of some sort, and the camera happened to be it!
Here's another idea... Initially the logo for Red said est 1999. Perhaps Jim had already decided to have a company called Red that never happened back then, and he purchased the Red.com domain name for it (Probably for a fair bit of money). He then wanted to make a camera and remembered the company he had intended to start never did and felt that Red could be a good name for a camera company. Just an idea.

RED is the color of life. The color of fire and blood, aggressiveness and intensity, love and anger, passion, valor and hardiness, bravery and courage, charity, prosperity, leadership, energy, strength and war. It is the color that stimulates quick thinking and action. That all sounds right to me...
