Final cut proxy to pro res

Does anybody know how much ocupies prores made of a proxy if the .r3d is of 2 G.
Is just so I can make adjustments of HD needed for a feature. An i don´t have the Final cut at hand.

If I understand correctly, you want to know how much time a 2gb prores is. I used the Digital Heaven widget called videospace and it says it should be 1 min 56 seconds at 1920X1080 (roughly 2k). At prores 422 HQ 1920X1080 it's 1:17.

What I want to know is how much time takes to make in the Final Cut, from the proxy Qt of the R3D a prores converión to edit with.
So I dont have the R3D in the HD An i may mount with Smaller capacity of Storage in Stead of X TB, but if it takes to much time then i will go directly with the proxys

Timing is based on your system speed (cpu/ram/etc). That being said, rates range from 3:1 to well over 20:1 (ratio of render time to original file time (r3d). I hope this helps.

On our Quad-core Mac Pro going from a single FW800 external to an internal SATA two-drive RAID 0 I get about 3:1 rendering out Prores HQ 720p offlines with the Draft process from 4K 2:1.

At one point though Red Cine I was getting about 1:1 to dv ntsc from 4k 2:1 material. Didn't test going to prores though..

I maid my own tests in the computer that we will be working, and is giving me a 2:1, wich is pretty great so I have decided to go this way in stead of making it in the Field, via redcine or redalert.
I wiil go external HD sata bye the way.
