I need to be able to install a small camera (SD consumer is fine) in the cockpit of a plane to record what the avionics are doing. Scarlet would be perfect for this (tons of resolution to read everything!). We were using lipstick cameras to a hdd recorder that could take in analog and digitize it, but the sony lipstick cameras are crapping out. I'd love to get a small CF recorder that could take either an analog in or a firewire in and record all day to that. Failing that, is anyone aware of a decent quality small camera or recorder for such purposes?

The Canon HF10 or HF100 models are amazingly light and small and record full HD up to 2 hours to a 16GB SDHC card in HQ mode and circa 6 hours in standard quality.

Yes, you'll go safe with Canons before Scarlet delivery.
