I think I am not alone in not being entirely sure what the differences are in skin rendition between the two systems. I mean I THINK I know, but...

Did Dragon solve the Freckles Issue MX had?

What other differences are there?

I like to learn in a technical way "Film like" and other abstract and purely subjective pronunciations I find less useful. To me abstract feelings-based opinions are very suitable to commenting on finished work, but not on camera systems.

Anyway, just looking for info to help us decide on Dec 1st deadline.

Honestly - go for it. Skin Tones and highlight rolloff are exactly what we´ve been waiting for. While a liked the MX for an edgy dark / mysterious look I found it quite a challenge to get beauty shots from it. The dragon is better straight out of the cam than I was sometimes able to achieve before. You got to give the Dragon light, rate it like 400 or so.
Now you´re quite late to the party, I would have advised to rent it and test it for yourself which might be too late now. But you still have the option to sell your MX and get a new brain after Dec 1st…

I'd be interested in seeing this as well... Specifically the same shot, at the same settings -- e.g. both Cameras rated at and lit for ISO250/RG4.

I've found that MX skin tones always look substantially better when they're dropped down by a stop in post (which correlates to the darker looks of Fincher and Soderbergh).

There was this post from Werner Jauch a while back:

"I shot some more comparison files of Scarlet Dragon versus Scarlet MX today
File A003_C003 is Scarlet Dragon 5k
File A003_C004 is Scarlet Dragon 4k
File A002_C001 is Scarlet MX

I wanted to see skin indoor tungsten in this comparison.
In each case camera location was in the same spot, I stood in as near as I could the same place, lighting was one tungsten light, camera right, Canon 50mm lens f2.8.
(focus looks a little off in one of the shots, but then I was operating the camera via the Redmote)

By just doing a simple white balance on the shirt and pushing a bit the saturation, I clearly see a much more monochromatic magenta skin on MX and more tonalities on dragon.

I thought this was a really helpful test comparing the Epic, Dragon and Alexa. Some funky things going on with exposure on the Alexa but I found this pretty helpful.
