Hello,
I'm having a little difficulty understanding ASA settings.
On every other piece of photosensative electronics I've ever known, changing the ISO/ASA setting would adjust the gain on the sensor to achieve an extra few stops of sensativity. But the Red One has no sensor gain control. So what does setting the ISO actually get me? My understanding is that it's just shifting data around. Setting the ISO is just metadata for on-set reference (and to keep the director from whining about an underexposured image on their monitor). Really, as far as I can tell, the only thing that ISN'T metadata on the Mysterium is shutter timing.
Also, I'm not sure exactly how Redcode Raw really works, but would it be possible to have a 'recovery' feature to help level the shoulders and bring out more detail from the shadows and highlights like I can with my DSLR raws? Looking at Macgregor's images from yesterday, it's clear there is information there, but shadow details fall away or highlights get clipped as you move the ASA around.
