Hello

Just wondering.. does anyone think RED ONE footage mixed with EPIC footage be noticeable difference to the naked eye at a cinema screen?

4K to 5K might not be huge difference?

Ive heard some don't see the need of even going over 2K.. My last feature was shot on 35mm then transfered to HD tape for special effects then back to film and noone was the wiser..

One-word answer: No
Two-word answer: Don't know.
Three-word answer: It all depends.

BTW, unlike chroma sub-sampling, which gives an indication that human vision has reduced color resolution perception compared to luminance always; there is evidence that after a certain frequency human vision uses only 2 primary colors instead of three (in effect the response in CIE xy diagram degenerates to a line instead of a triangle); and after some further increase in frequency, it is just luminance and color perception difference (hue difference) totally drops and only brightness perception remains.

Therefore, any perceived difference between Red One and Epic at typical viewing distance may only discriminate some brightness differences and perhaps no hue discrimination.
