Is the price list now gone from the RED site or do I need a white cane?

So I do actually need the white cane. Do RED offer a braille viewfinder? ;-)
Thanks!

I note the RAW PORT?* is listed with a question mark. Does that mean the price is in question, or the existence of the option is question, or is it a typo?

Maybe you are on the dreaded "do not sell" list?

It's a joke, I'm sure. We aren't an elitist club. ;)

Here is the real scoop.
Fanboys motivate us the most. We will do everything in our power to NOT let them down. I will die trying to satisfy them.
Sincere critics give us food for thought. If the suggestions are valid and in our capability, they make the project better.
Disrespectful skeptics turn me off. Likely to make the "do not ever sell one to this guy" list. If they turn around quickly, we forgive quickly.
Hecklers absolutely make the "never sell this guy no matter what" list.
We have just added "we reserve the right to refuse service (or accept reservations) for any reason" to our program.
It is nice to be a private company.

Just kidding, though, RR. (My . . . I hope so anyway. :bye2: )

I'm hoping a little lower price on the RAW Port. Not sure exactly what kind of components the port is comprised of, but it seems the price is more like a "high-end tax," because "you are also looking at hooking it up to a $100K+ price range 4K / 4K+ capable DDR."
This post probably makes me look like a critic, but I'm really a huge fanboy who will buy everything RED makes anyway.

I was guessing the RAW port uses some relatively non-consumer tech like 10G ethernet, where pricing and availability of component parts probably changes quickly.

It's an optical data port.

That's what I thought; at least six flavors of 10G ethernet fit that description: 10GBASE-SR, -LRM, -LR, -ER, -ZR, -LX4 for example. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10_gigabit_Ethernet

...I have a list of about 1100 people who I think should pass on RED so I can get mine first. :bleh:

Wasn't disagreeing, merely informing the curious.

We know it's 10G and we know it's optical... Some commentary points us toward single-mode fiber. But like you said, there's a few standards that would allow for this. ...Assuming RED doesn't make it proprietary. I don't think they will considering how open the rest of the camera seems to be.

Heh...I just don't have the resources to commit to a RED until I know it's actually going to perform. I'm completely enthusiastic and I hope it's everything they say it's going to be, but I've been in trainwrecks way too many times. That said, as soon as the field tests start rolling in I'm going to be hoping for a cinematographer pandemic or a surprise announcement that production has unexpectedly jumped ahead of demand. ;-)
