This camera would be ideal for shooting an IMAX timelapse picture, IMO. The resolution is ungodly!

I've seen some underwater shots from this puppy. Almost looks like you are right there with the fish, very nice.......nice price tag too!!

I figured the pixel junkies would like this...but yes I could imagine time lapse or underwater would be in insanely impressive in the right hands.

But it doesn't use the superior RGB stripe colour filter array mosaic pattern. :-) Sarcasm off.

Haha, what does it use, BTW?

Not bad, but fashion photographers prefer to use Mamiya because Hasselblad is too much sharp
another interesting thing is that you can use Hasses leneses with any SLR body via adapters http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&dfsp=32&catref=C6&from=R40&satitle=hasselblad+adapter&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=ZIP%2FPostal&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=32%26fsoo%3D2

:) So I wonder what the "effective" resolution of these bad boys is? In any case, it's definitely enough for IMAX.

Rez is very high. I don't believe they use an OLPF, which may be that one for that size of sensor is pricey, or maybe they just don't believe in them, or maybe that MF lenses are just not as sharp as their smaller counterparts, again as making them as sharp at that size would not be cheap. Who knows, but without pointing one at a zone plate, I don't know what the impact will be.
The do supply software to deal with chroma moiré, but I didn't find it very good on their test images as it seemed to destroy luma detail also. If anyone has had more luck with "Phocus" than I have? At 5412 across, lacking OLPF but with good demosaic, I'd hope they'd measure a good percentage of that figure, but again, without charts, who knows?

I have wondered how it would work if you had an identically patterened display and displayed the unmodified raw image - do you have any idea?

Would probably be fine, if you stand far enough back. Effectively, either that, or put an OLPF on the display...
