So Red, hate to play this one like an old saw, but what is going on with the 50-150mm lens? Haven't seen any ship in a long time. Even #103 hasn't got any word. Some news would be great.

Very curious about this. I had no idea these weren't shipping yet, either.
Info would be appreciated.

So Red, got any news yet on the 50-150mm production?

I'm hoping Big Jon can add an update on this in his FAQ sticky - every other lens gets a mention there, on its status, except this one.
I really need this.

Please Red .... Give us an idea of the ETA of 50-150 zooms shipping.
I would really appreciate this so I can plan ahead.
Cheers, Tim.

I don't have my 50-150mm but I know a few people that do and I've played with them a few times. They are nice, smooth action, smoother imo than the 18-50. But my guess is this lens will be discontinued. The 18-85 is where RED is focusing their efforts (and hopefully also on the primes). The lenses seem to be built by different sub-contractors, at least when you look at the build quality, so perhaps the contract with the company making the 50-150 is being re-negotiated or abandoned. Anyway, the 18-85 is a great lens, and it along with my 18-50 (for handheld and CF work) and a 300mm prime will make for a lot of good options.

Eh, that would be a real shame to discontinue the 50-150. If there's only the 18-85, what happens to 86-150mm?

The 18-85mm's huge size makes it not suitable for everyone even though it might be a great lens. I don't know where you base your assumption that the 50-150 will be discontinued but i didn't get any notification like that from RED and i hope that i will not get in the future.
I still hope the 50-150mm will arrive at my hands during one of the following summer months.

I contacted RED only around 10 days ago and was told they are NOT discontinuing the 50-150mm lens. It is still being produced, just very slowly. So the rumour that they are stopping making them is entirely untrue. But i wish like a few other items (EVF) that production will ramp up and get inline. It's happennig, just slowly...and the best motto with RED...be patient.

AS of two weeks or so ago, I was told to expect mine (mid 400's) "late July, early Aug." What bothers me is why no one is saying anything about what has gone out.
NOTE: Policy is not to ship by date of purchase of lens, but by date Red One is SHIPPED!! I think it's a crappy policy, but that's management's thinking of being fair.

Only the people who ordered them are actually in front. You may find not everyone who ordered a camera ordered all the Red lenses.

Hi
On 6-12-2008 you said you had received word from RED confirming payment and that your 50-150m lens was ready to ship. That's now over a month ago, so could you please advise if you've received it, if not have you at least a tracking number yet?
Can anyone actually advise if they've received a 50-150m lens yet. As far as I'm aware, not one person has actually said they've received the lens?
Many Thanks
.

Not true, just do a search and you will find names. But it would be nice to hear from Craig, regarding whether this actually shipped or not, and especially nice to hear from someone in the 300s who might have ordered this, whether they've been contacted regarding its shipment or not....
hellooooo 300s! Anyone?
