I was happy to find an email from CineForm in my mailbox today, stating that they are discontinuing Prospect 2K and therefore offer a free upgrade to Prospect 4K for everybody. That made us upgrade our 2 remaining Aspect HD to Prospect 2K finally, so I can save the $500 per license.

Now I just hope the Red SDK is providing all the hooks necessary for CineForm to update their standalone RedCode RAW --> CineForm RAW transformation tool and keep the 12fps conversion speed.

That's great news.

I'm seriously considering the Cineform route.

But I think that there's too much turmoil going on and I'm a bit confused.

RedCode, Windows support, QT proxies, Cineform, CinemaDNG, this, that...

Maybe it's a good thing that Scarlet is one year away...

It'll help clear things out.

And make the best choices more evident.
