Hi

Next Wed the 14th of May around 5 til 7 pm - we are looking to have a Red Australian Users function in Sydney.

At this we will have some guest speakers and come cool stuff to look at including:
* Real Time Scratch 2k - the new NAB build 'virtual' Red telecine
* Scratch Cine
* Crimson
* FCP / FCP server
* I will give the workflow talk from the NAB User Group meeting in Vegas
* We will cover updates from NAB - including Scarlet and Epic. (We have footage from Ted recorded in Vegas discussing the new systems - plus Red Ray).
* Door prizes

The event is being sponsored by Future Reality - who sell Scratch and so it is free to RED users. This is not an official anything - it is just a chance to get together - discuss the latest software and workflows, as well as catch up on the gossip from Vegas. There is no catch - just a fun informative night.

There will be free food and drink thanks to our sponsor and it will (hopefully) at a location overlooking the harbour - so you can point a Red at some great magic hour shots, and then immediately see them on Scratch/FCP etc etc.

Jason Wingrove from the Red Centre podcast will hopefully also be there and recording quick 2 min interviews for his show on how you are finding filming with your RED.

It just seemed like a good idea - as the Vegas User Group was so brilliant.
Spaces are limited so email mikes@fxguide.com preference will go to actual red owners or Reservation holders - so quote your number please.

Once you email you will get a return email with the location, and details. Given the view and the nature of the event we cant handle people just rocking up on the night.

thanks

Oh great - and to be fair to the ANZ nature of this list - i just spoke to Scott in NZ about a similar event in NZ a week or two later

Sounds like a great event. Unfortunately I'm stuck on the other side of Australia, but other events like this get organised I might look at making the trip over for it.

Count me in for this! Sounds like a good excuse to rock up to Auckland for some 'professional development'.

Hey Mike, thanks for organising this, would have flown down for it but unfortunately I have a shoot Wed/Thurs in FNQ. Just sitting at Melb airport now on my way home...to a newly arrived unopened RED! There's nothing worse than waiting so long for something to arrive and then not being there when it does!

Today the wait ends...

Mike, Dave, Jason and crew,

Thanks so much guys for a great night. We all got a truck load out of it. Finally seeing The One in the flesh was awesome, but even that was overshadowed by both the footage and the informative presentation. We appreciate that evenings like that don't come together without a lot of thought and organisation. Anticipate seeing our names on the FxPhd account shortly! We look forward to the next meeting scheduled in June.

For those that couldn't make it: it was a cracker and do you best to be in Sydney at the next gathering scheduled for June to meet Ted (amongst others) in person.

I Third that, great night on the harbour, great info.

Footage looked amazing.

It was also great to meet Jason from the PodCast, as well as staff from FXGuide/PHD.

And good to finally catch up with Dave Farland and James Press in person, as well as all the other local users out there.

Great night.
