DRX is Dynamic Range Extention. My understanding is that if one channel starts clipping before the other 2, DRX adjustment can use the 2 unclipped channel to help "guessing" what the information in the clipped channel is and artificially reconstruct the clipped information so that the 3 channels clip at about the same time, thus mathematically extending the dynamic range.
