Hey,

I'm a photographer from New York that shoots a Leaf Valeo 22Mp back on a Hasselblad H1. The software that works with the digital back has under and over exposure alarms. I think it would be great to incorporate this into the Red. I've attached a jpeg of what the alarms look like when something is under exposed and losing the black detail. The same goes for blown out detail as well it just shows up a different color. I figure that with a small external monitor you could have it set to Show alarms and on your eye piece you could have them turned off so you could always peak at your monitor to see if anything is blown out or under.

People have told me that the RED will have a histogram. I don't know if many people have tried to judge exposure using a histogram but it doesn't work that well. They are very misleading. This works way better then a histogram.

Just a thought.....

In the Jpeg yellow color is Under and the green is Over

Red One will have both histogram, and zebra patterns which works a lot like what you are suggesting here.

The exact specs on what will be available has not been told yet.
We'll have to wait for NAB for the exact features.
Most of the RED team are DSLR photographers that shoot RAW themselves, so I'm pretty sure they will implement whatever works best for moving images while still making it easy to set the correct exposure.

I'm going to NAB so I'll look forward to checking it out... Maybe get my name on the list to get one...

There's no one perfect tool for getting good exposure feedback - so we're implementing more than one.

I think Red One comes with Waveform Monitor as well.

Breakthrough idea: "Red ShockŪ".
The Camera body would give you an electric shock every time you hit overexposure: "Ok, Open up...Open up...open up.....OUCH!...stop down."
