Is it possible he's shooting #8 at Skywalker ranch?
Here's proof of his plane on the tarmack.

The first 12 REDs on the TEST DRIVE.

WELCOME RED!
Gibby is #8. Find him on the photo above. Jim has a pole position #1.
Probably the RED Russians are behind him?! This is just a couple of weeks
for drive tests before the NAB RACE starts in about 13 days.
Oy, god I hate the 599GTB. Looks like they took cues from the hyundai design team.

Acehole, first you must try out and then you could say...but have another look of the test drive in California.

I'm not sure you can hate any Ferrari but I'll take one of those f40s.

I love the 430's! Absoloutely in love with the F40 (Best car ever made IMO). But hate hate:sick: the whale like hyundai tiburon look of the 599.

Have a look at F430 GT that just won in Florida yesterday at April 1, GT2 class in the second round of American Le Mans series driven by Brasilian Jaime Melo and Finn Mika Salo...

That was great! Several people came into my office wondering why I was laughing so hard!
Love the GT rims! Good to see ferrari's winning local races again.
Kimi is doing quite well though so thats all that matters!

I think you maybe closer to the mark with Gibby beta testing a Red. Who better to showcase the Red as an EFP production camera than the man that has been championing the camera for this work for the last 12 months?

Hmmm.... Come to think of it, I haven't seen offhollywood around here for a few days. That's RED #6 & 7 right there.
Anyway, I'd be surprised if RED is already shipping a few of these early units.

Oh yah, Like that's going to happen REAL SOON.
Let me just add.. Long ago, I think it was started on Hill Street Blues, somebody got the real smart idea to give the camera to a chimp and let him run around the set doing hurkey jurkey moves and call it art. Then the monkey found the zoom control and randomly began to do little short jump zooms sometimes in and out on the same shot. Some camera op friend of mine named it "BARF CAM" and we just laughed our asses off.
Thanks but no thanks.

Barfcam is more NYPD Blue and Homicide.
They do a lot of nice Steadicam work on L&O. There are operators here that might take offense to your characterazation.

I know and appreciate good Steadicam work. I was talking about a type of shooting that is done on purpose, it looks like it is done by a drunken sailor.
I might have law and order confused with one of those other cop shows.

I feel you on the barfcam thing. I hate that whole trend of snap zooms and shaky hand held on purpose. It's getting tiresome.
I can't remember where I read it but some DP was saying that they liked to use a longer lens and shoot back a little bit and then have the operator try to be really, really steady because this how documentary footage would really be shot. Just waiting for the opportunity to try this out.

Not much barf cam on Law and Order. See it a lot more on NYPD Blue or CSI and some other shows. I haven't decided if the producers/networks think it's cool or if the DPs think it's funny or if it's actually a stylistic choice done with a purpose. If they're trying to build anxiety and nauseate the audience, they're succeeding.

depends - for BSG the handheld style is exactly what suits the rough, noir & adult style. it is hard to shoot btw, we have a quite similar setup here on our hdcam/cinealta cams and if you really put everything on it (long zoom, monitor for ca, 5´mattebox with some glass, wireless audio, batterys etc) its a good workout for the camera operator to shoot a whole day in the pseudo-doc stlye.
BSG are doing most of their colorcorrection at the set btw, with the in-camera functions.

Battle Star Galactica.
They have cornered the market on barfcam the past three seasons.
They have also even managed to incorporate barfcam into the CG space battle shots.
I do like the look of the HD on that show though. Kudos to the DIT.

Where's Waldo? (Gibby)
Like my micro-Cessna eh?! Once I get the STOL wingtip conversion and those extra fuel pods on the wings my range will be huge...if I can get it to rotate! If not...heh, taxiing is way cool...that's what some planes do best...
The junior flying banker look...clients dig it!
You'll notice the strategic inclusion of the color red in my tie and Cessna...

Umm... Gibby... er, Waldo? I... Ah... Notice by your mammothHD that not only have you received your camera, but you are already selling 4K Red footage?!!! So THAT'S WHERE YOU'VE BEEN!!!
Bastard!?!?!!! I knew that kid on the tarmac was just a decoy--you had us all fooled.
So, come clean. Do you have the camera yet? I'm sure, if you do, Jim has sworn you to secrecy and you are probably being watched at all times--so just nod once for yes or twice for no...
Great article, BTW. Good job "Spreading the Red".

Most of those DSLR pics on the three MHD RED Collection pages are mine. You can expect to see a lot of similar subjects in my RED footage...

Beautiful work. I'm really looking forward to your tests and the beautiful 4K stock footage you come up with.
Please, since you are going to be among the first to get the camera, be sure to post some of your first amazing shots somewhere for us Red Heads to drool over until we get our own cameras to play with--Don't make us Red Users buy your stock footage just to get our red fix!

Of course I knew that, but I was a just a bit envious of the fact that he is so close to getting his camera that he has already prepared his website as if it is a "done deal" and all he has to do is remove the disclaimer.
<--- Now, :shiftyph34r:, If only I could remove 500 from that number.

LOL - I'm pretty mobile and I don't have a big server farm to serve up 4k files, but I'll get posted what I can, when I can. After I get #8 I'll be testing it heavily and shooting tons of footage. I'll be sure and post some frames here on RED User, and give my impressions of the camera, lenses, and accessories. I've been sharing my thoughts with the RED community heavily for a year and a half now...and looking forward, I'm sure I always will. You'll get your "RED fixes"!

No need to tax your server, just bring the footage to the first LA Red User Meeting (You bring the camera and the test footage, we'll bring the questions, the envy, and the drool).
Not sure if there is going to be one, but I'm sure if you offer to show your test footage and share your experiences when you happen to be in L.A. with time to kill, one would spin up pretty quickly.

I love the 430's! .
I'm happy to say I've driven a 430 around Thruxton race track in the WET and the amount of grip is just unbelievable. (I'm not a racing driver - honest). It's a perfectly balanced car and when I got out of it - I just wanted to buy one. If I leave it a few more years I can get one for about 30K GBP and it'll be time for my mid life crisis by then anyway :clown2:
