Hi all,
So this is either gonna oust me as a complete newbie to this kind of imagery acquisition or raise a valid point. Whats the LUX rating of RED? I have only been filming in Hi8, DV and recently HDV so that will give you an idea of the learning curve I am climbing at the moment. Also with working underwater it does become quite an issue seeing as the water has this nasty habit of absorbing light pretty damn quickly.

Cheers,
Mark.

Haven't heard anything about the Lux, but if I remember correctly, The Porsche 959 shot had details being picked up in the shadows and the black background. This coupled with the fact that your shooting raw, means you have alot of information to play with should you see something interesting lurking in the shadows of your footage after you've come out of the water.

Luckily enough, the sensor seems to have enough range to do some pretty wild acrobatics with the data to compensate for varied lighting conditions.

Well, the current assumption is that the base ISO of the Red One will be about 200. That however, does not mean you can't shoot very clean images even two stops faster at ISO 800. The signal to noise is so good that a 12db gain (In Redcine on the Raw file, via a setting/LUT in the viewfinder) would probably still be much cleaner than 0db on a 2/3" HD cam. couple that wih a highspeed Super 16mm prime like the 9.5mm T1.3 and you have a very good light gathering rig for your underwater romps.
