Hey guys, which software or templates do you use for budgeting? Do you use the same software for your commercial clients and films or two different solutions? Perhaps EP Budgeting or another? Thanks for the help!

I use MS Excell spreadsheets for documentaries, based on a form we have developed over the years. We use EP budgeting for projects that involve larger productions, broken down by department.

Any chance of you sharing that one?

I am currently using one that I have adapted from drama productions, but that one is weak on research.

Coming from a background in business consulting I use Microsoft Project to both break down the script and budget the project. I also do an Excel spreadsheed to create an initial ballpark figure and to present to potential investors. I work with both tools until the numbers align.

Microsoft Project (and the Office suite for that matter) is such a hugely powerful tool that most people never even scratch the surface of what it can do. If you really want to be an ace producer take a few classes and get a few books on Project.

We use Showbiz Budgeting & Actualization. Does the job, but the GUI could be a lot better.
