I was very unhappy that i wasnt in "The Argentine". A good friend of mine was part of that big event as an AC. Of course he wasnt able to touch the camera because there was people that took care of the system.

But at last the first Camera is going to be here in Puerto Rico for a couple of commercials. Ill be the AC!!!

sorry guys.. im just happy!!!!

Ill let you know how it goes. Here is the perfect place to see how the camera reacts to humidity, hot places, etc....
We are honored that THE ARGENTINE was shot here...

yeah!

Awesome Fernando! I was just in Puerto Rico shooting a short film with the Red One in Manati. Williamson Quintero was the director. We shot in very humid climates with tons of rain and the Red kept ticking. PM if you need any help or questions - Best of luck

thanks man!!!! I got a couple of questions i would like to discuss with you later.

The shooting was great the camera worked like a clock!

We shot a food comercial @ 4k in studio the first day and in location the second. Our package was a redone with just a couple of accesories because our rental shop here (PJ GAFFERS) gave us the rest of the stuff.

the package...

REDONE
REDdrive
3 batts w/ charger
handle, etc
Fom PJ i got.. set of Cooke S4 lenses, 18, 25, 32, 50, 75, 100, an Agenieux Optimo (28-76) and a 40 macro. And a case with all ARRI accesories.

The camera was used under the puertorrican sun on the beach with no problems at all. I just tried to keep it cover with a flag to protect it from the direct light, but it just got warm as it was in the studio with air conditioning.

I used 2 monitors, the red monitor and a Panasonic BT-LH900 (it helps a lot because of the waveform) but our DP used the meter calibrated to 320. it worked perfect reading from the meter and double checked on the waveform. I just love the red monitor... small, looks great and helped a lot with the focus double check. For focusing i just put my Leica range finder attached to the camera with a israeli arm. No backfocus problems, everything was ok.

The only 2 problems we had: (and were not a " cant shoot" problem)

1. in the studio shoot when we wanted to see playback from the camera, sometimes it went blue. it was solved clicking the play button a couple of times. we called the rental people and they said that it was a flaw that the build 15 has but they also said that the RED people were working on it.

2. we were shooting te whole project at 24 fps but we wanted some shots @30fps, so we went to the varispeed menu and did it. The camera compensated the change with 1stop (why 1 stop for just 6 frames??) wich had us crazy for a couple of minutes trying to match it with the meter (because we didnt knew that the camera compensate it) but we found that out very quick so no prob. For those shots we measure @ 160ASA.

The only thing i suffered is that we wanted to use the Angenieux Optimo 24-290 but we didnt have the 19 diameter rods long enough for that lens.:(

For the rest it was more than OK... the images.... wow.. The tech guy that came with the camera dowloaded and show us the file using Redcine. Now the guys in post are gonna use Redalert to manage the colors and are going to the Smoke.
Im very impressed with the quality of the whole system and the images. The drive download pretty fast and is very user friendly.

I hope the production co. put here some images so you guys can see.

yeah!

now... i have it next week again.. i cant wait!
