View Full Version : Reservation holders...

As stated before, our customers have been very patient with us throughout the development process. In return, we have also been patient about letting reservation holders wait to take delivery of their cameras without losing their place in line.

This caused us considerable grief when many called for their cameras right after NAB after we had collected money from the "next group" of customers... then had a production issue. We are now fully caught up and going out to the next group that has been waiting patiently for their turn.

But please understand that there will be a point in the future when we will call the reservation holders to see if they are "in or out". They will have 30 days to decide. This will not happen in the next month. But it will happen in a few months and we don't want anyone to be surprised. We have no problem either way. We have offered a full deposit refund for those that choose to wait longer or cancel altogether.

We appreciate everyone's complete patience with us. We hope we have rewarded you with a camera that outperforms your expectations, with unexpected candor, with service beyond the call of duty and features that you had not dreamed possible.

Our camera will never be done. We will continue to surprise you with unexpected features and quality improvements. Like Build 16.

My sincerest appreciation goes out to all RED customers. This has been quite a ride the past two years. From ground zero to incredible footage... and great friends. It is a time I will never forget.

Jim, I greatly appreciate your flexibility and thank you for my new camera.

"We hope we have rewarded you with a camera that outperforms your expectations, with unexpected candor, with service beyond the call of duty and features that you had not dreamed possible." You and your team have done all the above... thank you all (Red Users as well!).

Now the work begins...

Cheers,

thanks Jim. I paid I believe the day before the delays were announce, so it's been a tough wait, but it's not hard to remind myself what you guys are trying to do, and for what you guys are offering me at this price, I can wait a few more days :)

Jim,

I've just shot the first UK feature on Build 15 and had everyone interested, including Pathe and Highpoint, in this low budget horror film, because it looks astounding. This is the camera we've been waiting for. Thanks to all the RED team.

I think many of the reservation holders are thinking about waiting until the new X sensor will be released...because everyone is sure it will work better than actual one.
Maybe if you can clarify if this sensor will be also inside the RedOne camera when ready you could let people choose with the information they need.

If they are waiting for this... no question they should ask for a refund now. They will lose their place in line long before the upgrade.

To be more clear, it will be at least a year for the sensor upgrade. And the 1st sensors will be used to upgrade older cameras before any new ones are shipped.

Is there any chance of being able to give us a guesstimated price range for the future sensor upgrade, I mean "guess" and "range", nothing binding?
I personally will finish paying off my debt for the R1 in two years, so it could be worth me waiting a year for the improved sensor, which isn`t a major problem for me if its gunna be quite expensive (especially with shipping), and especially if the editing situation beefs up in the meantime.

Your continued acknowledgment and support for your earliest customers is not only high class but pretty much unparalleled in this industry. Thanks again for your amazing ethic that resonates at the heart of every RED camera.

Jim van Dijk and I jumped in early and have not regretted it. We're now the largest RED rental house in the Vancouver market and can hardly keep up with demand. We don't have to advertise... the camera sells itself.

We've learned a lot over the last few months of intensive shooting, especially putting the camera into new environments like episodic television for the networks and travelling documentaries in far-flung locales like Rwanda, the UK and Europe.

We're definitely looking forward to the system continuing to evolve and improve (and so are the DPs and crews shooting everyday with our cameras). There is much to improve on this system, but the quality of the image makes up for the growing pains.

Here's to many more years of successful shooting... great work Jim & Team.

Ooo, the UK, that sounds exotic, what were the women like? and have there been any recent genocides like in the other places you mention?! :detective2:

Hey, Jim. The delivery of my camera is finally approaching and I would like to contact you personally. Since you have deactivated PM's how can I do that now?

Can't wait for my RED ONE.

Sounds fair. I just hope there won't be a rush of people selling their place in the queue.

the 1st sensors will be used to upgrade older cameras before any new ones are shipped.

Will there be a window where you are shipping new cameras with the 'old' sensor, while retro-fitting "old" cams with the new chips? Or will there be a brief pause while catching up on the retro-fitting?

My guess: you'll let the affected customers decide ;)

Again, thank you for the Red ( in waitin')

It is interesting how much a "Mysterium X" sensor upgrade would cost for a RED One system.

And would we be able to purchase a pre-"Mysterium X" RED One, after the new sensors are really out?

If... well, you know. :)

Jim, I suggest this new policy take effect when availability of EVFs has caught up with that of RED One camera bodies.

Jim,

I was trying hard for the past few weeks to get some advise regarding my payment. Unfortunately after several emails and faxes I still did not receive any information regarding this.

My RED reservation is 757 and I was notified that my camera was ready. However my country (Sri Lanka) has export restrictions and to import any item worth more than US$ 7500/- , we need to open a letter of credit. We can not wire transfer as requested.

I have received the required Invoices, but did not receive any advise regarding paying through Letter of Credit. I am ready to make the full payment and waiting patiently for instructions from you.

Please look in to this.

Jim,

I have to say that you have continued to look out for us early reservation holders. From the ability to trade in our RED ONE for full value towards an Epic to this announcement that the new sensors will go first to upgrade older cameras. Yeah, we've had to go through some growing pains along the way, but when you continue to offer these kind of perks to your loyal customers who were there from the beginning, it leaves us with a very good feeling.

Thanks,
Steve

We are looking into Letter of Credit as a payment option and we (myself, Kelly, or your BOMB SQUAD rep) will get back to you with details. Can you PM me with your current email address?
