There's a "restore" option in the menu...not tried it yet so don't know what the default settings would be once it's activated.

The default settings are usually 3K... though it depends on the build. That's not to say that 3K is more stable, it's just what happened to be "selected" when the build was compiled.

Part of my camera building protocol on the first morning of a shoot when I'm teching is to reformat the cameras and set them up properly for that project. That way nobody could've snuck in and messed something up that I'll pay the price for.

I read somewhere where we're not supposed to mix certain formats/resolutions on the same Red drive. I've mixed 4k, 3k, and 2k footage with no problem, but paid the price when I mixed 2:1 footage with 16:9 footage (as there is a known bug with 16:9).

Can someone tell me what the exact rules on mixing formats, etc.? Thanks.

Mixing formats is fine except for base framerate. Varispeed is okay, but the base framerate has to be the same for a given media.

4K 16:9 breaks the Quicktime codec for different reasons and is a seperate issue.
