Anyone have issues with the handles not fitting the handle mount insofar as they don't tighten down correctly onto the left and right positioning rod?

Anyone with a fix?

Cheers,
Mark.

I just received my camera on Friday and my handle is doing the same thing! When did you get your camera?

Must be a bad batch, anyone else?

Long standing issue. Mine do not tighten down effectively either.

Has anything been suggested as a temp fix until the solution is resolved.

My RED handle does tighten solidly, but I had a friend who slipped in a thin piece of paper between the rod and handle to get a fix for another company's rod/handle slipping. Worth a try - or something along those lines.

So if the Red Handle is a know bust, then why is it being sold? The to fix the problem which handles are people using?

Some bumps on the road to perfection.......no big one. Had a chat with RED this morning and may look at getting down there for them to take a look.

Cheers,

Checked the handle on ours and fit is snug with no movement at all. You must have a dud.

What do you mean fitting handle mount in so far? YOu can tighten those knobs until there's no room to move and those things won't move at all. Are you having issues with the knob it self? Or have you tightened it to a point where the knobs are as tight as you can push them?

He's talking about the front left & right handles, as opposed to the top handle & extension. It has been remarked on numerous times that in a handheld situation these handles will give even when fully tightened. Some people have found that adding some washers helped stregthen the clamping mechanism but others still state that theirs will give. The RED handles rely solely on friction clamping to do their task. Other camera hanfdle designs (Arri, Aaton) use rosettes similar to those used to attach tripod pan bars. The interlocking design of rosettes make slippage nearly impossible. But they are also considerably more expensive to manufacture.

Thanks for that clarification Mitch, very eloquent. I, like others, have padded out with washers. Looks ugly but works. I have to try hard to make 'em slip now.

Mark.
