HI All,
I've posted this question in 2 other sections of this forum without any responses, sorry to post again if you have already seen this question,
I'm trying to find out if anyone knows if redcine is as good as red alert, and if not is it worth buying a mac to beable to use red alert, are the extra tools if any a big difference.

Thanks
Stricko

As a (mainly) PC user, I wound up buying a 15" Macbook Pro so I could test-run RedAlert at my desk.
I find I'm using RedCine (quad-core PC) for generating qt's of shots (with filename/timecode overlays), and RedAlert (quad-core macs) for rendering 4k linearlight tiffs for prepping VFX shots.

RedCine has no option (now) to turn OFF any OLPF functions.
The denoise functions appear to be very slightly different also (Graham has stated that RC has chroma de-moire, not sure what RedAlert does?).

Seems there's pro's and con's to both pieces of software.

cheers
Chris
