The Australian Cinematography Society (ACS) (http://www.cinematographer.org.au/home) celebrated it's 50th Anniversary (http://www.acs50.com/) last week by holding 4 days of exhibits, master classes, conference sessions, panels, etc. Lemac Films (http://www.lemac.com.au/) proudly showed off one of our 6 RED Ones at our booth, and Lemac's John Bowring, ACS held a master class on the "Ins & Outs of the RED One" which garnered one of the largest crowds of the conference.
We were able to lure Don McAlpine, ACS, ASC (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005791/) (DoP on the new X-Men Origins: Wolverine (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0458525/)) into our booth to discuss the RED One, and he had great things to say - despite the fact he had used a much earlier build than 15.
I spoke at length with Daryn Okada, ASC (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0645401/) (President of the ASC), who mentioned that he was still waiting for Ted to call him back and go over some things.
During a panel on the "Future of the Image", Andrew Lesnie, ACS, ASC (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0504226/) spoke about his involvement using RED, in that it "is now a very suitable system", that its come along way, and that he used it a couple times alongside Super35mm on The Lovely Bones (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0380510/), Peter Jackson (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001392/)'s new film (much to the dismay of John Galt, SVP Digital Imaging at Panavision, sitting right beside him).
