Hi

I have just completed a test of the avid workflow and everything seems to be going okay. I exported an EDL using RED16 and sent it to the company doing the online to check that everything will go smoothly.

They managed to find the exact footage with no problem, but they are outputing using redcine to get full quality media and it is generating metadata that only have the start of the the file name.

ie. A011 instead of A011_C010_901229.

Is there anyway to create a second EDL with this shorter tape name? I can't seem to find a way to create one easliy without manually deleting the end of the tape name once the EDL has been created?

Thanks

Fiona

Make a copy of the CMX_3600 or the RED16 EDL templates in EDL Manager Supporting Files folder.

Open it in a Text Editor and change "tape_name_len" to 4.

Then use the new template in EDL manager.
Set Tapename truncation to "Remove End"

You can always add the shortened name to either the Labroll or Camroll in the bin then select that as your source instead of Tape. I believe the new MetaCheater supplies both the short and the long names in the bin.

The RedCine XML to ALE tracks both long and short file names automatically during the ALE creation process.

That worked perfectly!

Is there a Red16 EDL Template for a mac? Tried to download it onto my MacBook Pro and received an (.exe) file.
