Hey Guys,

If you covert the .R3d files to prores HQ 2K files and edit them in FCP, and if your final output is either a SD DVD or HD 1080, why do you need to attach the 2K to 4K through Crimson & and render through Redcine? Isn't 2K enough?

Thanks for the help.

The debayer of the FCP "log and transfer" function isn't full blown. If you want to step up the quality you would want to go back to Redcine/Line/Alert through Crimson, do a full debayer and rough color correction to a DPX sequence and color correct that. Once you see the 2 side by side you see that the quality difference is huge. The 2K Prores does look ok though and if your delivery format is SD it's very reasonable to use just that.

Thanks, Florian.

That answers my question.
