I'm working on a short film at the moment and one shot I'm looking to get is two characters sitting against a blown out window while keeping just a slight amount of detail in their faces (then cutting to OTS shots which would naturally be much easier on the camera)

Anyway, I found a shot in Donnie Darko with an effect similar to what I was looking for (also looking at using a little smoke for the shot as well)

I haven't been able to find an example of the RED being used in this condition. Any idea how well it would hold up?

I am posting pics of a similar setup tomorrow. It will be on the lens porn thread on off topic. Looks pretty much like this.

I had a 1200 Fresnel full flood thru the back window, a 4 foot 2 bank added for his backlight and a 4 foot 2 bank on the floor in front of him for an eyelight/fill.

the back window just clipped and I added the eyelight/fill until I was happy with the overall balance. RED held the range, but I got the feeling that another 1/3 or 1/2 of a stop down on the front side and it would have been too under exposed. you can see in the blacks that it is starting to fall apart

hope this helps....
