Red #1974 arrived in Paris on friday !
Got my tracking number on tuesday afternoon, 1 day later it was in Paris, 1 day for the customs, and delivery the next day. That was quick.

Everything is fine so far, except for the usual known bugs (build 15 really doesn't like trees :)).

All the accessories look great. The handles work fine too, they don't slip (at least not yet), and I'd recommend the Red handle mount if you plan to use them often for handheld work.
The shoulder dovetail locks firmly in place too. Haven't tried it on a tripod yet.
The Red craddle is nice, but very heavy, I'll probably wait to see what ET comes up with.
For handheld work, the small Red arm that comes with the LCD is a bit too short if you don't have the side handles. I wasn't able to get it low and far enough from my eyes to feel comfortable. I had one universal mount left, so I put the Red arm on there, and it seems to work.

The wingnuts work fine, but look quite fragile. It would be nice to have an option for aluminium (or maybe steel) wingnuts, instead of plastic.

Thanks to all the Red team for your hard work. This camera really IS what I've always dreamt of.

Ok, so now that I have my camera, Jim, feel free to release Build 16 at your earliest convenience . I have a tungsten bluescreen shot coming up in a week.

Thanks Tony,
My invoice was approx $33.000 (camera / LCD / 18-50 Zoom / Pelicase / CF cards / accessories),
I paid around €1.000 Tax and €4.400 VAT (which I will get back of course).

But as others have already said, be carreful, the guys at customs often make mistakes, you have to check carrefully with them. In my case he thought the camera was in the "camcorder" category, which is something like 13% I think. I made him change it to "TV camera" (without a tape recorder), and it went down to 4,9%... Makes a big difference with such high amounts...

Hi Nils, if you have a chance let them correct it to digital still camera, thatīs how RED declared it on the paperwork i got. I know some others here in Germany who got it through to customs as Digital Still Camera too, and that is 0% tax !

Anyway, i wish you all the best with this fantastic toy, i know how you feel :)

Thanks Manuel,

yes, I tried the "digital still camera" thing, but the guy at Fedex didn't accept it, unfortunately...
But I got the LCD at 4,9% Tax (I think it's supposed to be in the 14% normally)...

But you're right, people should definately try to declare it as a digital still camera. Sometimes its seems to work. Red declares it as a "Video digital still camera".

I would advise against trying to smuggle it through customs at the Airport.

Even if you should get through undetected, you'll have problems if you were ever to take it out of the country again. Also, it might make it difficult in accounting, and claiming VAT back.

But then, I do not know the Turkish tax laws... Would you Red be the first one in Turkey - otherwise you could ask your fellow users...
