Some uplifting footage could be on offer at NAB.

How about some motion greenscreen footage online?
Eh eh?

I'd like to see some over/undercrank stuff.

I'd like to see anything, just lots of it. Outside, inside, sports, nature, drama, whatever.

Put another way, I hope the running time isn't 50% the RED logo fading up and down... :)

I would really like to see the Drag stuff...

should we "assume" RED #1 is assembled ?
any hint if we be seeing RED #2 ?

JJ you bringing that special pen to sign some "R"s ?

The only people complaining will be those complaining they couldn't get into the RED Cinema to see the demo footage :-)

That's what I'm really afraid of Graeme

Will Reservation Holders be taken care of, will there be a special trap door for us? I'll be pretty peeved if a bunch of former naysayers get in but I don't..

Yeah, I sure hope so. I'm sure it's been discussed, but what time on Monday if any is there going to be the show from the RED team? Or is it going to be come whenever you want and you'll get the same show?

I'm pretty sure it starts when the doors open - it is going to be madness

Will the new footage be made available for download? I'm certain that those of us who couldn't make it to NAB would really appreciate it. Can't wait to see the overcranking and more low light footage.

Sorry if this has already been answered but I'm prepping for NAB right now and don't have time to search:

Is the RED Cinema at the RED Booth or is that being held elsewhere? How is viewing handled? I assume on a first come first serve basis?

Thanks,

Robin

Yea, it'd be great if we could get a 720p or 1080p torrent file :)

All of the footage was shot REDCODE RAW to RED Drives (so nothing but 24fps). You understand why when you see it and you won't be disappointed with the footage.

We are scrambling to get all the pieces and parts together at the 11th hour... some vendors have made us a bit nervous. But we won't have any excuses on Monday.

Given a bit more time, I think we will see some of just about everything this camera can do. I wish we were 3 years in on this project, but we are 15 months in from ground zero. If everyone keeps that in mind, all will be good. I still think we should have this discussion on Monday night. Let's see how the footage plays at NAB.

I can't explain why just now, but a download won't come until after NAB.

Haha I know I'll be dissatisfied with the footage. I've been waiting more than a year to see the really good stuff and now I'm stuck up in Seattle with no way to get to it! Cruel fate!

How about a screening at the Cinerama? A cross country 4k launch tour perhaps after NAB?

oh, damn....

If only I can jump to Las Vegas...

We know to wait for the footage online. No problem at all.
But, please, right after the expo, think about to the guys here at "home"...

I'm betting you will get many opinions of the footage pretty quickly. I'll do my best to post a 1080P (or 2K) on the website as soon as we can.

Know the feeling, I'm in Finals at BYU and the going to Vegas to see the footage would mean failing a couple classes. Still, its tempting.

Thanks Jim.
Sometimes I think that the things here are too good to be real.
I'm here in my studio, in Italy, typing some wishes (using my orrible english)... and, in a few seconds, I have an answer directly from the leader.

I don't even know what is the name of the Panasonic's chief sales representative in my area.

Easy does it guys- I'm sure we will see plenty of Red footage soon. I'm not sure what difference a few days will make? And by the end of the year apparently there will be over 1000 REDs out there, I have no doubt the net will be awash in footage... and people are going to be demanding infrastructure upgrades so they can stream HD and 2k and 4k footage, etc... should be fun, I'm looking forward to it.

It'll be an interesting change once the "secret" gets out. All the nonbelievers will become instant experts and tell us about how they knew it was real the whole time. Everybody and their sister will know every little bit about the camera.

But we knew first. ;)

Mee too, Jim.

If only I have an opportunity to give an useful helping hand to you and your team...

Meanwhile, I will give you a little gift, (already uploaded sometimes ago).
Wondering if this picture will sport the desktop of your macpro...

Thanks Jim, I'm pretty excited about NAB, but as a reservation holder I'm not going to get to see the camera personally at all until I purchase it and it's delivered! I get to sit here refreshing reduser.net to see if all my questions are answered from NAB. So that footage will be something folks like me would really appreciate.

It's frustrating to read everyone saying "Footage was awesome", when you want to see it yourself :-)

Good luck with the show.

It's already been happening. Subtle shifts in tone and content have been playing out "over there" as both NAB looms closer, and as the murmurs of RED being validated by major industry players percolate through the forums and the trade press. We'll all have a huge laugh at their expense soon. First that weird "quiet spell" happened. Then that latest backlash thread. What a bunch of babies. I know some key players at both Panavision and at the company they just bought out (the one that supplied Star Wars). It'll be interesting to hear their "off the record" comments.

His/Her name is "Dead Meat" after this coming week.

Elcuardo, I wish you could make it, along with everyone who has taken this journey together. I look forward to meeting so many of the people I've come to know here. I just wish people used their real names more in this forum, I'm going to have to guess at a few folks and their identities.

I will post stills and clips of action taken with my trusty Casio still camera as soon as I return home.

Thank you Jim,
for keeping us "distant ones" (only physically) in mind.

If the amount of footage happens to be too large, we would be glad to order a dvd with a RED gallery, and pay for the expenses
- that is, if something like that is an option.

I can't speak for Jim, but your awesome artwork is now the desktop background on my workstation monitor - a 24", 1920 x 1200 LG 246W. Beautiful work Elcurado...

We'll miss you at NAB. Hopefully the info on the RED web site, RED User, and the NAB info sources mentioned on the "Media coverage at NAB" thread will kinda make you feel like you went to NAB!

Ciao...

I've got my last minute package together, flying off to Vegas tomorrow afternoon. I'm staying at Buffalo Bills in Primm out side of town so I'll have to drive in extra early to get parking!

Glad to see reservation holders will be taken care of.

Doubters will convert no doubt :-)
As for the outright Haters... I'll just quote a certain someone:

In my opinion that's not even necessarily the most amazing bit. Imagine a year ago when they started testing the first prototypes what was the first thing they did with their footage? Post it on the forums. Those who worked with that piece of greenscreen footage last year were almost certainly creating some of the single and double digit first composites ever done with the RED camera.

That's almost like a steadicam operator being able to brag he took out the first steadicam for a spin the day it was assembled. I didn't get any HVX greenscreen shots for over a year after it was released!

Viva la revolucion!

Oh yes,
Agree with that. This is the first time, anyway, that I feel the phisical presence of all the peoples hidden after a "product".

I'm accustomed to know and use "Products".
In this case I know a Team Developing a product, I can speak with them, I can read questions and answers, I can see sample, Screenshot, Moke-up...
And... after some times I will use that product.

Great experience.
I think sometimes that... is too good to be true.

Thanks to all and... have a GREAT BIG SHOW!
