don't know if this has already been discussed

I love the workflow of this camera, the color grading on camera could be very convinient....

no doubt its a neato camera.. but 23 grand for 2k.. vs 4k+ for 17..
and besides Red is upgradeable.. im sure as time goes on there will be new functions added

I totally agree with you Zack
i guess this is more of a subtle hint/feature request......
I was weighing the options between Red/Si2k before commiting to Red...
and I have total confidence in the Red teams ingenuity to add features and workflow that we haven't even thought of yet.
But that Si2k is pretty slick....

make sure you're comparing apples to apples when comparing price, though - total package price is what matters, and they are packaged/bundled/priced differently. While I luvs me teh Red, and I have one on order, those folks have done some nice work.
I've posted a bit about it, and the noX, on the blog yesterday -

My gut read so far: Red will offer better looking images at higher res and higher frame rates, but the techie/geeky features of SI-2K will hold appeal for a certain segment of the market. Red does have phenomenal engineers and folks involved, but the two take different approaches on the hardware - the SI-2K is essentially a stripped down Win2K box with a sensor and lens stuck on one end. This means they have computing horsepower and an easy to develop for platform to add new features, but they then have to deal with its computerness in terms of size, noise, power, weight, etc. They've made substantial progress from last year, the form factor looks SO much better.
I'm still buying a Red though.

"stripped down Win2K box"
i thought it was XP not win2k ?
i'm going to hold all comments comparing SI or RED to any camera's till during or after NAB ..
i do like all the improvements they have made since last NAB ...
i will be looking very close at SI2K to go along with my REDs ...
separating the 2k sensor unit from the body i can put to use ...
