View Full Version : Avid Help Needed

I have been offered a gig for a commercial that wants to cut on AVID. I have not transcoded files for the edit before on AVID (lots of Final Cut, but no AVID).

Can someone please post step-by-step instructions on how to process RED footage for use in an AVID. I am using a MacPro with RedCine and RedAlert. They will cut on AVID on a MAC.

If there was a video made of this process, it would be tremendously helpful.

Is there a way to use RedCine to output the necessary files needed to cut on an AVID?

I know the information will be scattered throughout this forum, but I am hoping someone (from AVID) will post the most current, and easiest, and rock solid, solution to get this done. If AVID made a video that showed someone with a drive full of RED clips running through each step right through to the footage being on the AVID, with metadata, that would be amazing. Thanks.

There are two links posted in the Avid section for tutorials on studiomonthly that will take you through the process. AVID is waiting for some development to provide videos and tutorials that are directly related to RED and AVID development.

thanks for the help jason. very nice. one more question. in compressor and QuickTime Pro, i don't have the option to export into any avid codecs. i am assuming this is because i don't have avid?? anywhere that i can install the necessary items so that i will be able to export in the avid codecs (DnX--) using QuickTime Pro and Compressor??? thanks...
