Can someone please tell me the difference between useing a rec709 lut and a log685, and which would be suitable to see a 4k red conform.
Thank you.

I am curious to know more about this as well.
My limited understanding is that you should use REC709 if you are finishing for delivery other than DI (i.e. broadcast, web).
If you will ultimately do a DI the log space is the one to use.
REDspace may change all of this?

In deed the rec709 for DI because its our SMPTE norm, but i have seen probably a bug or something, i dont know when i apply the log685, its like nothing happen because the info of the shot apears like it were LIN instead of LOG, and i want to do some prints of a movie, ive tryed with the redlog because it gives me the caracteristic cine curve, but im not sure if this is correct.

Rec 709 is broadcast video color space -- I think it can be either gamma encoded "linear" video or have a LOG emulation. It can be used for material to be filmed-out (HD cameras do it all the time) but for D.I. work, you tend to want to work with a wider color space and with a LOG emulation.
