There it is guys...the last 24hrs.

Here we all are on the verge of a truly exceptional event.
What started as a one man's dream, through thousands of hours of effort of 14 people became a reality,
and a thing which many people have been waiting for so long.

Jim,

thank you for chasing your dream, for proving that boundaries can be pushed, for unselfish approach and open minded mentality,
for the effort to stay on track, for innovative buisness approach, for bursting bubbles to narrow minded.
Time will come when people will realize that this is how it should be done.

Knowing about the effort, the crew behind the project, the ups and downs, the goals and achievements, and this whole community...
...it all gave "something more" to this device, something that sets it apart from all other lifeless things,
something that will make us proud having it and using it.

You could have charged twice or three times as more. You didn't.
You could have made the device behind closed doors. You didn't.
You didn't have to interact personally with the community. You did.
Your ego could have easily hit the moon. It didn't.
You could have enjoyed the fruits of your labor for the rest of your life and do nothing else.
You chose to be creative.

Not only you have made an exceptional tool and made it much closer for many artists,
you have also started an avalanche in the world of motion picture aquisition. It was time somebody did.

In less than 24 hours it will be your time.
The time your dream came to life.
At that moment remember the moments when you first imagined all this
- and that connection will multiply the feeling, making you feel like flying...

Enjoy. You had that coming.

RedCrew,

You have spent years gathering knowledge. You had ideas and visions that many people around you didn't understand.
You made many sacrifices just to be able to do the things you somehow felt you had to.
As your life choices were rare, so was the appreciation for it,
but you persisted.

And now...none of all this would be possible without your ingenuity.

And now.....your time has come.

You've combined your expertise with creativity to create a device that will go down in history.
You've given a thousands of artists a remarkable tool.
Indirectly, you influenced the future of this art in extremely positive way.

Tomorrow,
just remember the moments when you studied your asses off...

Enjoy. You had that coming.

That goes to you too, Frederic.

People forgive me for this too personal and too straight forward post, but I just had to do it.

/What he said!

Lets also give it up for Jarred, whos community formed the catalyst for this magnificent and unique open development process. I hope to see this process continue well beyond the production process.

Personal be damned. On a personal level I had to work 100 hours last week laying off digibetas for editorial. ANYTHING that takes the pain away of such production is personal. It means we now only have to fight the personal issues of talent and creative ability, not the technical and ugly issues of creating imagery. Because the tools we have while good, are not what they can and Jim has shown they will be. As a filmmaker and as a post guy its unbelievably exciting and wonderful to see the future come to fruition. So to all the red team I can't wait to meet you tommorow, and thanks.

Signing off until this evening...heading over to the NAB area in a little while!

As mentioned on the media coverage thread, my RED @ NAB articles will be online at 9am Pacific Time (Part 1), and about 9:35am (Part 2). My RED @ NAB, Part 1 article has already been written and is just waiting for upload to the Studio Daily web site. It contains some exclusive info scoops and photos you won't find anywhere else.

I'll check into RED User later this evening to post some of my additional feelings and impressions about RED at NAB.

Hold on...everything blasts off in about 1 hour and 35 minutes from right now!!!

I'm just a redwatcher from Vancouver, but here's what I've found:

www.studiodaily.com

is promising some kind of release at 9:00 PST and again at 9:35.

www.red.com

is promising a website update at 9:00.

and Mike at www.hdforindies.com

has been doing a yeoman's job of almost-to-the-minute updates from the trenches. I'd guess he'd have a post, not at 9 AM, but as soon as he can type something and wifi it to the world. 9:15? Mike?
